(Matisse) Makwanda was born in Montreal in 1991. He lives and works in the city. In lingala, « Makwanda » means « one who gathers ». He now actualize the heritage of his last name in an approach inspired by transdisciplinarity.
Member of the Quebec Coalition of interdisciplinary arts (RAIQ), independent researcher in aesthetic, entrepreneur, his approach feeds on a variety of practices. As to its substantive work, it reveals a porous boundary between fantasy and reality. Then, Makwanda represents it through different mediums such as writing, photography, installation, performance.
